Families are a core segment of the museum audience. Increasing attention has been paid to developing intergenerational programming, but less on what it means to design exhibits for families. Is it time to re-evaluate our definitions, models and practices for social learning groups? Together, let’s discuss and envision a 21st-century approach to exhibit design that embraces the whole family ecosystem. What are our biggest challenges and obstacles to change?
