Though crowdsourced fundraising has been supporting startups and entrepreneurs for years, it is starting to gain traction as a method for raising money in the museum world. Attempting crowdsourced fundraising in museums requires us to navigate a complex landscape of donors, members, and our online audiences not used to traditional styles of engagement, or who began their relationship in a totally different context. In this panel discussion, three museums will talk about the challenges and successes in their crowdsource fundraising efforts including content, distribution, technology and strategy.
