Using three real-life exhibitions and projects in storyline format, we will explore a number of issues, particularly the definition of a museum’s social roles in another culture where modern museums are a relatively new phenomenon. How can we ensure that the stories, experiences and designs we develop for another country’s museum are embedded distinctly in that culture, rather than our own—especially a culture largely rooted in its intangible elements, traditional practices and oral histories?
