The debate about the future of historic houses is in full swing, with many arguing that there are too many struggling houses that do not support or add value to their communities. At the same time, teachers are struggling to incorporate primary sources into lessons and meet Common Core standards. We will examine ways house museums and other small museums naturally fill this void and can use their assets, inside and out, to meet the needs of schools and maintain relevance in the eyes of their community.
