Creating social value and effecting social change is forging new purpose for 21st-century museums. Positive activity and good intentions exist in abundance, but measurable evidence that museum intentions make a difference and accrue to the public realm is harder to find. This session explores the challenges in developing the evidence base for social change through three lenses: a museum case study, results-based planning and findings from a recent international research project.
