Approximately 1.5 million people in the U.S. have an autism spectrum disorder. Given that autism has increased 10-fold in the past decade, the number of children with autism who will become adults over the next few years is huge. In this session, attendees will learn how museums can address the invisible cognitive challenges facing autistic adults, hear from two autistic adults and their parents who visit museums, and have an opportunity to brainstorm ways museums can support this population.
