This session features presenters from Africa, the U.S. and the Middle East who are engaged in building or rebuilding museums in their home countries. Despite their geographic and cultural differences, they face similar challenges: revising a colonial interpretation to represent a more community-based voice; building a brick-and-mortar institution with an awareness (and acknowledgment) of global trends; and developing a professional staff to manage the new museum.

This session will be simultaneously interpreted in Mandarin and Spanish.
